In 2018, Fritz Sedl, the first chairman of Sportfreunde Friedberg, was looking for a new name for the sports facility, as the previous name "Waldsportplatz" was no longer considered to be up to date. He turned to the local company MedX5, which has its headquarters in the Friedberg district of Derching.

MedX5 - a company with a mission:

MedX5 is a global distributor of defibrillators that can be used in the event of cardiac arrest and can save lives. It is a matter close to the company's heart that sports facilities are equipped with these life-saving devices. Sportfreunde Friedberg had already installed a defibrillator from MedX5, which formed the basis for a natural partnership.

Renaming to MedX5 Sports Arena:

Company owner Volker Brand was immediately enthusiastic about Fritz Sedl's suggestion to rename the sports facility "MedX5 Sportarena". He honored this gesture with a generous financial contribution, which underlines the company's appreciation for the local sports community.

Visible sign of partnership:

A "welcome stele" was designed and erected as a visible symbol of the new partnership. This element, designed by the Robert Wörle company, has found its place at the former location of the maypole and is now a real eye-catcher at the entrance to the sports facility.
